How do the two compare?
Thenty and FrameAuth are both Framer plugins that add user accounts, gated content and payments to a Framer site, and either will get the job done. The difference lies in capabilities and overall cost.
Thenty charges a transaction fee on every plan, and the rate depends on which plan you are paying for: 5% on their cheapest, 1.5% on the plan most people start on, and 0.5% only once you reach their largest. FrameAuth charges 0% commission on every plan, big or small.

Comparing the costs
Thenty takes a percentage of every payment, and how big a percentage depends on which plan you are paying for. Their cheapest plan takes 5%. The plan most people start on takes 1.5%. FrameAuth is $19.99 a month, Thenty is $29.99 a month. Both entry plans cover up to 1,000 members, so that is the same at both prices, about $120 a year apart. Then there is the part that compounds.
You have to be on their largest plan before it comes down to 0.5%, and even there it does not reach zero. So the less you pay each month, the more they take. FrameAuth charges 0% commission on every plan, including the cheapest one. There is no tier to climb to and no smaller cut to work towards, because there is no cut.
On a membership site making $5,000 a month, Thenty’s 1.5% is $75 a month on top of the $30 monthly fee, which comes to $1,260 a year all in. The same membership on FrameAuth is about 5x cheaper at $240 a year and nothing in commission.

"The moment I saw how seamless FrameAuth integrated into Framer, I knew, that I'm gonna use it for some of my most advanced website templates. Best decision I could make! Highly recommend!"

Rewardful
Zapier
What thenty does well
Thenty ships direct Zapier and Rewardful integrations on its entry plan, so connecting a mailing list or running an affiliate program is a couple of clicks. FrameAuth has neither. We reach the same places through webhooks and an API, which is more flexible and more work. If you want a mailing list wired up you can still use our webhooks with Zapier but theirs is quicker to setup.

Switching from thenty to FrameAuth
Switching to FrameAuth is a painless process, but not all data can come on the journey.
Passwords do not move between auth tools, so plan on notifying users to reset their password or alternatively, they can use passwordless options like Google, GitHub, or OTP. Your Stripe account and your existing products stay where they are, so the money side is not disturbed.
The starting point would be to install FrameAuth alongside what you have, replace the auth components, lock pages and content, import your members, then retire the old setup once the migration is complete.

Frequent Questions
What is the difference between FrameAuth and Thenty?
Both are Framer plugins that add accounts, gated content and payments. The main difference is the fee. Thenty takes a percentage of every payment, from 5% on their cheapest plan down to 0.5% on their largest. FrameAuth charges 0% commission on every plan.
Does Thenty charge a transaction fee?
Yes, and the rate depends on the plan: 5% on their cheapest, 1.5% on the plan most people start on, 1% above that and 0.5% on their largest. FrameAuth charges 0% commission on every plan.
Which one is cheaper?
FrameAuth, and the gap grows with your revenue. FrameAuth is $14.99 a month billed yearly with 0% commission. Thenty is $24 a month billed yearly, $288 a year, plus a transaction fee of 1.5% on that plan.
Which has more sign-in options?
FrameAuth. Google and GitHub, plus email and password and OTP. Thenty offers Google sign on only.
Can I use something other than Stripe?
With FrameAuth, yes. FrameAuth works with Stripe or Lemon Squeezy, and Lemon Squeezy handles sales tax and VAT for you as merchant of record. Thenty runs on Stripe.
Is switching from Thenty difficult?
The integration is straightforward, but your members will need to sign in again, because passwords do not transfer between auth tools. Your Stripe account and existing one time purchases are not affected. Passwords, bookmarks, and subscriptions do not transfer one to one.
Is Thenty ever the better choice?
If you want Zapier and Rewardful wired up without touching a setting, they ship both on their entry plan where we use webhooks and an API. If that is worth a percentage of your revenue to you, they are a fair pick.
